Distinguished Service Award Recipients Announced

 

The Distinguished Service Awards (DSA) recipients were announced this morning at the Chamber of Commerce's weekly Greeters Program.

Authorities Seek Public's Help in Locating Man

The Psychiatric Security Review Board and the Woodburn Police Department are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Daniel Scott Moore. Mr. Moore walked away from his residential treatment facility at approximately 10 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 8. He was last seen in the Woodburn area. He has lived in Marion County for several years.

Judge Lori Coukoulis Sworn In as New Judge

At the Jan. 25 Woodburn City Council meeting, new Municipal Judge Lori Coukoulis was sworn in by retiring Judge Janice Zyryanoff.

Coukoulis isn't unfamiliar with Woodburn, however. She has been the judge pro tem the past two years here.

City Hires Gustavo Gutierrez Gomez as Community Relations Manager

The City of Woodburn is excited to announce the hiring of Gustavo Gutierrez Gomez, as its new Community Relations Manager.

Previously, Gutierrez Gomez worked out of Marion County's Woodburn office as a nutrition education case manager.

Moving to the City and this position, he said, was a natural move for him.

Police Seek Public's Help Identifying Thief

On Jan. 15 around 8:50 a.m. a young woman was at Mega Foods in Woodburn, when she left her clutch purse sitting on the end of the bagging table. The woman left the store and after she realized she had left her purse she returned to the store at 8:55 a.m., only to find the purse was not there. After reviewing surveillance footage officers determined that another customer at the store had taken the purse.

Mayor Figley Proclaims 'Nikki DeBuse Day'

At tonight's Woodburn City Council meeting, Mayor Kathy Figley pronounced Friday, Jan. 29, 2016 "Nikki DeBuse Day." Nikki has been with the Woodburn Independent since 1988 and has been its publisher since 2009 and is leaving to further her career in Forest Grove. Nikki has been a community advocate for many years, including help found Love Santa, Inc., a local nonprofit that makes Christmas brighter for thousands of people over the years.

Police Seek Public's Help Identifying Thieves at Sunglass Hut

The Woodburn Police Department is asking the public’s help in identifying suspects in a theft that occurred at The Sunglass Hut at Woodburn Premium Outlets on Jan. 14.

A male suspect took a single pair of Versace sunglasses, black and gold with leather bridge guard.

DLCD Approves Woodburn's Final UGB Amendment

On Monday, Jan. 11 the Oregon Department of Land Conservation and Development (DLCD) approved Woodburn’s Urban Growth Boundary (UGB) amendment, ending a near 20-year land use dispute over the expansion of Woodburn’s City limits.

Police Seek Public's Help Identifying Suspects Who Stole Expensive Sunglasses

The Woodburn Police Department is seeking the public's help in identifying individuals who stole a $260 pair of Versace sunglasses from the Sunglass Hut at Woodburn Premium Outlets.
