Did you know that Building Safety Careers offer many well-paying career options for today’s workforce?
There are a variety of work opportunities for qualified candidates seeking a job in the building industry, as well as fire code officials. Much of the Building Inspector workforce has either past construction experience, AAS/Certificate in Building Inspection Technology, or a combination of both.

A few Building Safety Careers for today’s generation include:
- Building Inspectors, inspect structures to determine compliance with the various building codes and standards adopted by the jurisdiction.
- Plan reviewers or examiners, examine the construction documents used to describe a project, including architectural, structural, site plan, mechanical, plumbing, electrical and fire protection drawings as well as the corresponding specifications, structural design calculations and soil report.
- Permit Technicians, assist in the issuance of construction and development permit to ensure compliance with the provisions of a jurisdiction’s adopted regulations and codes.
- Public Works Inspectors, check digging and fill operations, and the placement of forms for concrete. Observe the concrete mix and pour, asphalt paving and grading operations and keep records of all work performed and materials used in the public right of way.
