1000 Books Before Kindergarten - 1000 Libros Antes de Kínder en Español

1000 Books Before Kindergarten is for babies and young children who have not yet started kindergarten!  Reading a lot of books with your child prior to kindergarten helps prepare them to learn to read in school.  Sound like a lot of books?  Reading just 1 book every night for a year will result in 365 books!

Why participate? Numerous studies estimate that as many as one in five children have difficulties learning to read.  Reading has been associated as an early indicator of academic success.

The program is easy.  We will give you a special notebook to write titles of books you read to your child.  You can even count repeated readings of the same book!  After every 100 books read, we’ll give you a special sticker for your child’s notebook. After 500 books and after 1000 books your child will receive a new book to keep.  After the program you will have a special keepsake of the books you and your child read together.

Read more about it at https://1000booksbeforekindergarten.org/        To start the program, talk with Geralyn or Ericka in the Children’s Room.
