Rotary Club Contributions
The Woodburn Rotary Club, established in 1938, has provided many contributions to the Woodburn community and its residents. Rotary stands on the principles of “Service above self” and the Woodburn Club has done just that by providing countless improvement projects to the community including:
- Playgrounds
- Park shelters
- Tree planting
- and annual college scholarships
During the Legion Park Improvement project in 2022-23, the Club raised funds and donated the adjustable basketball hoops you see today. The project pays tribute to the Club’s long-standing member Earl Doman (December 4, 1937 – April 29, 2020). Also known as “Big E” on the basketball court, Earl was a committed community member with a passion for the sport who held the state high school record for most free throws in a game.
Earl and the Doman family have provided years of community service and a passion of basketball by participating and coaching in recreation leagues, as well as being one of the founding members of the 3 on 3 Men’s League. The City of Woodburn thanks the Woodburn Rotary Club and the Doman family for their hard work and dedication to the growth of basketball in our community.
