Mobile Crisis Response Team
In 2017, the Woodburn Police Department partnered with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the Salem Police Department and the Marion County Health and Human Services Department in the formation of a Mobile Crisis Response Team (MCRT). This program is grant funded through the Oregon Health Authority. The purpose of this team is to respond to calls for service involving people in mental health crisis. The team is comprised of law enforcement officers from the Woodburn Police Department, Salem Police Department and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office who respond to calls throughout Marion County. Each officer is paired with a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QHMP) who works side by side with the officer or deputy. The QHMP is there to provide a team approach to solving the problem at hand, assisting the officer or deputy in providing care for the individual in crisis without entering them into the criminal justice system as necessary.
